Mark the dates June 14 to 18 for RU 's online Paddle8 auction of fantastic art works by local and international artists to support our public programs ... totaling since January 2017 six exhibitions, eleven events/ talks, and the panel Embedding: Artist Residencies at the New School. All of our programs are free and open to the public. By purchasing an art work you can actively help us in our efforts....

This month, we welcome a new roster of artists and curators in our residency: Jorge Wellesley (Miami), Elizabet Cerviño (Cuba); Emma Adler (Germany); Naomi Okubo (Japan); and the NEA Artworks grantee Ryan Ko (Boston). And the curators Anna Harsanyi and Luciana Solano who are both New York based.

If you are a US based artist, there is still time to apply for a six week Liquitex sponsored residency at RU starting Sept 18th. Deadline: June 16th, 2017 - 6pm EST

We are delighted to announce that the 2017 winner of the Photo London Artproof Award is the Nairobi based Mimi Cherono Ng'ok. This prize awards the artist a 2 month residency at RU in the Fall. The selection panel -chaired by Stephen Barber- included Emma Bowkett, Director of Photography at the Financial Times; Thibault Brunet, photographer and last year's winner; Jiyoon Lee, Executive Director of SUUM PROJECT London/Seoul and Sofia Maduro, Director and Curator of Alberto Vollmer Foundation. The sponsor, Artproof is an international art printing laboratory with locations in Tallinn, Stockholm and Berlin.

Join us for a massive jam session and performance King of the Storm at ShapeShifter Lab by Matyáš Chochola. The program brings together a roster of VIP guests including kungfu masters, funkmasters and jazz gurus encountered by the artist in New York.

RU artist Charlie Gross presents his project realized during his residency at Kings County with a 22 year-old patient, transgendered man named Nathaniel both at Kings County and outside of the hospital.

PIPA 2016 Winner and RU artist, Paulo Nazareth discusses his practice and recent projects with Claudia Calirman, Associate Professor of Art History at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY).

UrbanGlass Workshop: Apply to Things with Residency Unlimited

June 29 at 6.30pm at Urban Glass

Organized by UrbanGlass, Sebastien Sanz de Santamaria will lead a workshop about the residency application process, resources available in NYC, and res, a new search tool for creative opportunities.



Other RU News:

Current resident artists Ai Makita's and Naomi Okubo's paintings were selected for the 2017 Emerging Artist Project for a 2 month exhibition at the residence of Ambassador/ Consulate General of Japan in New York. This initiative supports contemporary Japanese visual artists who are currently living and working in the New York Area.

RU artists Željka Blakšić, Miri Chais, Lyoudmila Milanova and Brett Swenson are featured in the June edition of CAPRI BY NIGHT*, video screening for the public space at Offenbachplatz in Cologne (Germany). This series is a collaborative project between the Schauspiel Köln and Lyoudmila Milanova currently in residence at RU.

This year's 57th Venice Biennale features the following RU Alumni:

-at the Russian Pavilion, Recycle Group present Virtual Intervention, a downloadable app that allows Biennale visitors to virtually enhance select locations around Venice.

▪ In the Central Pavilion, Giardini, the Danish artist Søren Engstedt is presenting Levitation, a performance and a video installation in the main show Viva Arte Viva curated by Christine Macel.
