Il primo incontro si svolgerà il 18 marzo, alle ore 18.00, presso la caffetteria L'ombra del Leone, con la presentazione del libro Una donna turchese di Andreina Swich con Serra Yilmaz, che sarà moderata da Ugo Savoia, direttore del "Corriere del Veneto". L'incontro è realizzato in collaborazione con l'editore Baldini e Castoldi Dalai e l'Ufficio Cultura e Informazioni dell'Ambasciata di Turchia. A new initiative by the Venice Biennale opens the spaces of its headquarters, Ca' Giustinian, to writers. The first meeting will take place on 18th March at 6 p.m. in the new cafeteria, the Ombra del Leone, showcasing the book Una donna turchese by Andreina Swich with Serra Yilmaz. This conversation will be moderated by Ugo Savoia, the chief editor of the "Corriere del Veneto". The event is realized in collaboration with the publisher, Baldini e Castoldi Dalai, and the Cultural Office of the Turkish Embassy.  DANZA / DANCE   Bando di selezione   /   Marathon of the Unexpected È attivo sul sito della Biennale di Venezia il bando di selezione per Marathon of the Unexpected, la nuova sezione "off" del 7. Festival Int.le di Danza Contemporanea (26 maggio > 12 giugno 2010). Sabato 12 giugno si succederanno brevi performance non-stop – di non più di 15 minuti ognuna – scelte tra le proposte inviate, entro il 2 aprile, all'indirizzo marathon@labiennale.org. Il prossimo Festival di Danza, intitolato Capturing Emotions, sarà presentato nel corso di una conferenza stampa martedì 30 marzo, ore 11.30, a Palazzo Reale, Piazza Duomo, Milano. On Saturday 12th June, brief non-stop performances – not more than 15 minutes each – will be presented among those chosen from the proposals sent by 2nd April at marathon@labiennale.org. The next Festival, titled Capturing Emotions, will be presented in a press conference to be held on Tuesday 30th March, 11:30 a.m. at Palazzo Reale, Piazza Duomo, Milan. Festival Internazionale di Danza Contemporanea. Due i workshop previsti per il percorso di ricerca e sperimentazione dei coreografi: docenti d'eccezione, Marie Chouinard e Ismael Ivo. I coreografi saranno affiancati nelle loro attività dai partecipanti a un laboratorio di analisi critica a cura di Stefano Tomassini, destinato a studenti/studiosi universitari nelle aree della critica letteraria o delle arti performative, con la possibilità di trasformazione di questa attività in crediti formativi grazie alla collaborazione con l'Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia. Chiusura bando di partecipazione: 28 marzo 2010. From 25th May to 12th June, a group of choreographers and university students will have the opportunity to participate in the rehearsals, performances and meetings with the artists in the program of the 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance. Two workshops will be held in the research and experimentation program dedicated to choreographers. Teachers are to be Marie Chouinard and Ismael Ivo. The choreographers will be supported in their activity by the participants in a Critical Analysis Workshop led by Stefano Tomassini, and addressed to university students/scholars specializing in literary criticism or the performing arts, who may earn academic credits thanks to the collaboration with the Università Ca' Foscari in Venice. Free admission, for further information: Tel. +39 041 5218828.  CINEMA   The Hurt Locker: dichiarazione del Presidente Baratta   /   A statement by the President, Paolo Baratta "Sono lieto che The Hurt Locker di Kathryn Bigelow, vincitore di 6 Oscar, sia stato selezionato in anteprima mondiale per il Concorso 2008 della Mostra di Venezia, diversamente dagli altri due film della stessa regista in precedenza presentati sempre alla Mostra ma fuori concorso, Strange Days (1995) e K-19: The Widowmaker (2002). Naturalmente sono rammaricato che The Hurt Locker non sia stato premiato a Venezia, ma dobbiamo tener fede al principio dell'autonomia di giudizio delle giurie internazionali, che rappresentano un elemento caratterizzante tutti i grandi Festival cinematografici". "I am pleased that The Hurt Locker by Kathryn Bigelow, which won 6 Oscars, was selected to make its world premiere in the 2008 competition at the Venice Film Festival, unlike the other two films that this director had presented previously at the Festival, but out of competition: Strange Days (1995) and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002). Naturally we are sorry that The Hurt Locker did not win an award in Venice, but we must abide by the principle of the independence of international juries, which is a fundamental tenet for all great Film Festivals".  ARCHITETTURA / ARCHITECTURE   Destinazione Biennale di Venezia   /   Universities meet in architecture In occasione della 12. Mostra Internazionale di Architettura People meet in architecture (29 agosto - 21 novembre 2010), diretta da Kazuyo Sejima, la Biennale di Venezia prevede un programma rivolto alle università italiane ed europee dal titolo Destinazione Biennale di Venezia - Universities meet in architecture. Con un accredito di € 20,00 gli studenti potranno visitare la Mostra venerdì pomeriggio, sabato e domenica, partecipare gratuitamente ai Sabati dell'Architettura (incontri settimanali a cura dei Direttori delle precedenti edizioni), ottenere un menù a tariffa agevolata presso i punti ristoro della Mostra e facilitazioni per il viaggio e il soggiorno a Venezia. La Biennale, inoltre, mette a disposizione delle facoltà uno spazio per organizzare seminari all'interno delle sedi espositive. Con questo progetto, l'offerta Educational della Biennale di Venezia si arricchisce di una nuova iniziativa dedicata ai giovani rivolgendo una speciale attenzione al mondo delle Università. On the occasion of the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, People meet in architecture (29th August - 21st November 2010), directed by Kazuyo Sejima, the Venice Biennale presents a program for Italian and European universities titled Destinazione Biennale di Venezia - Universities meet in architecture. By purchasing a € 20.00 pass, students may visit the Exhibition on Fridays in the afternoon, on Saturdays and Sundays, get free admission to the Architecture Saturdays (weekly panels curated by the Directors of the preceding editions), have a discounted menu at the refreshment points of the Exhibition, and more discounts for travel and accomodation in Venice. Furthermore, the Venice Biennale will make available to universities a space where to organize seminars to be held in the exhibition venues. With this project, the Educational activities of the Venice Biennale will thus include a new initiative dedicated to youths, giving special consideration to the world of universities.
