Ergin Çavuşoğlu
Nov 7, 2009 - Jan 17, 2010

In recent years, Ergin Çavuşoğlu's architectural video installations, sculptures and drawings caught a lot of attention. In 2003 he represented Turkey at the Venice Biennial. He finds his subjects in places of transition and the routes of migration in today's globalized world. His works, however, are not strictly documentary, they rather turn space as such and the actors in it into an aesthetical and narrative element. With his structural and detailed view, Çavuşoğlu achieves images of density and solitude. In his own biography he represents a type of artist whose thematic sources are his own migration experiences and life in different cultures. The exhibition will present the video installations Silent Glide (2008-2009), Voyage of no Return (2009) and Liminal Crossing from 2009 that has been produced by the Ludwig Forum. Çavuşoğlu will conclude this year's programmatic leitmotif of video/film.
