Dear Members,
I am sure our Indian members everywhere would have had a riotous day yesterday, smeared and drenched in the colours of Holi. This Indian festival of fun and frolic, colour and abandon, more than any other, represents the spirit of joie-de-vivre and amour. Let this rule your heart!
The new Issue of Muse India (No. 30, Mar-Apr, 2010) is now released and can be viewed at www.museindia.com. Under the charge of Ambika Ananth as the chief editor, the Issue presents glimpses from Tamil literature, with Rajaram Brammarajan, the noted poet and translator, serving as the section editor, and carries a special feature on 'Indian Writing in English – Criticism Across Genres,' overseen by Prof T Vijay Kumar. In an article on Dilip Chitre, the illustrious bi-lingual poet of Marathi and English, who passed away last December, Manu Dash recounts his personal association with him. Delightful poetry and absorbing fiction in the other sections add to the promise of pleasurable reading.
The focus shifts to literature of the North-East in our next two issues. While Karbi literature will be featured in May-Jun 2010 Issue, poetry of the NE region will grace the pages in the subsequent issue. Prakriti (nature) and Bhakti (devotional) aspects in Indian literature will be looked at as well. I am sure many of you would love to contribute to these interesting sections; and we too would love to receive them! Further details can be had from the link on 'Forthcoming Issues' in the homepage.
We invite more submissions of reviews of recently published books and Interviews with established writers on various aspects of Indian literature.
Your feedback has always enthused us and kept us focussed. Please continue to send it generously.
Warm wishes,
Surya
GSP Rao, Managing Editor, Muse India
